Folding Acoustic Vocal Booth – Hylander Portable Vocal booth ( FAV)

Foldable Acoustic Vocal booth ( FAV for short) is a minimalistic and stylish vocal booth that was designed to provide a great acoustic workplace for voice over professionals.

We call it Hylander Vocal Booth after Award Winning Voice Actor Brad Hyland, who was, in major part, the reason this booth came to existence.

During COVID pandemic closure professional Voice Actor Brad Hyland  was visiting VocalBoothToGo production facility and wished that there would be a booth, that does not have any bells and whistles, but can be very easy to set up as a desktop, had no parts to assemble and sound great.  At that time we had developed Acoustic Felt panels, that were a very efficient sound absorber with NRC 0.95.  I though that they could also provide a structural support for such a booth.

So, in a short time I designed a prototype of the Foldable Vocal booth and gave it to Brad to see if he liked it. Brad liked it very much, demonstrated it to his friends and asked me to make more.  But I run into production design problems, meaning that I was not able to find a solution where the acoustic panels in the booth can be reliably secured without the use of a glue.

There were many considerations that I had to keep in mind:
Acoustic property, ease of assembly, minimal number of parts that would never get lost on the road, practicality of the booth, durability and long lasting use in rough conditions of travel, health considerations, cleanliness, smell and so on.

Now that the booth is ready, the design seems to be obvious, but at the time I had through many reiterations, trying to simplify and simplify, using different approaches and did not like any of them.

At some point I even decided, that I did not need to design another portable vocal booth.  But Brad was insistent and he was pushing me, saying that his friends  are asking him when they can finally get the Hylander booth!

So finally, I am happy to present this new Foldable Portable Vocal Booth

So what can this booth do?

Well, it will create a great acoustic environment for your voice over work on the road.

(You might also use it as a pillow or a comfortable seat at an airport).

The booth measures 24 x 24 x 24 inches on the inside and it is a very large, largest of all portable Vocal booths. It can fit a large monitor ( 27 inch diagonal)  and all your recording gear.

When folded for travel it measures 24 x 24 x inches and weigh around 5 lbs.

It can only be placed on a flat surface, cannot be mounted on a mic stand.
